Dipankar Kolay is a privacy-focused Android developer committed to creating tools that respect user privacy. With a deep understanding of cryptography, Android security architecture, and the growing threats to digital privacy, Dipankar built PLocker from the ground up as a response to the surveillance-heavy approach of mainstream password managers.

Why PLocker Was Created
The problem with modern password managers—and how PLocker solves it
The Cloud Problem
Most password managers store your encrypted vault on their servers. While they claim "zero-knowledge" encryption, the reality is that your data exists on infrastructure you don't control. Server breaches, insider threats, and government subpoenas are real risks. PLocker eliminates this entirely—your data never leaves your device.
The Tracking Problem
Many password managers—even "free" ones—embed analytics, telemetry, and tracking SDKs. They collect data about how you use the app, what features you access, and even your device information. PLocker has zero tracking code and no internet permission, making surveillance impossible.
The Paywall Problem
Password managers often lock essential features behind paid subscriptions—unlimited passwords, advanced generators, biometric login, dark mode. PLocker gives you every feature completely free. No premium tiers, no feature paywalls, no subscriptions. Strong security shouldn't be a luxury.

Privacy First
Privacy is not an afterthought or a checkbox—it is the foundational principle of PLocker. Every design decision, from the offline architecture to the absence of tracking, starts with the question: "Does this protect user privacy?" If the answer is no, it doesn't make it into the app.
No Data Collection
PLocker collects absolutely nothing. No crash reports, no usage analytics, no device information, no behavioral data. We don't want your data, we don't need your data, and the app is architecturally incapable of collecting it. What you do in your vault is known only to you.
100% Free
PLocker is and always will be completely free. No subscriptions, no premium tiers, no in-app purchases, no feature paywalls. Every feature—password vault, generator, secure notes, biometric login, backup & restore—is available to every user at no cost. Digital security is a right, not a product.
Open Development
Transparency builds trust. PLocker's source code is publicly available on GitHub, allowing security researchers, developers, and users to independently verify the encryption implementation, confirm the absence of tracking code, and validate that the app does exactly what it claims—nothing more, nothing less.
User Control
You are in complete control of your data at all times. Your vault lives on your device, encrypted with your master password. You decide when to create backups, where to store them, and whether to transfer them to another device. PLocker imposes no restrictions, no lock-in, and no dependency on external services.

A Commitment to Privacy
PLocker was born from a simple observation: the tools we trust with our most sensitive information—our passwords—should not be the very tools that compromise our privacy. Yet most password managers do exactly that, collecting data, requiring accounts, and storing vaults on servers outside your control.
By choosing an offline-first architecture, PLocker makes a deliberate trade-off: no automatic cloud sync across devices in exchange for absolute privacy and security. This security is further enhanced by programmatically enforced, always-on screenshot and screen sharing/recording protection across the entire application, preventing unauthorized local capture or transmission of your sensitive credentials. We believe this trade-off is worth it, because the convenience of cloud sync should never come at the cost of your digital privacy. Your passwords are yours alone, and they should stay that way.
This commitment extends beyond the app itself. PLocker is supported entirely by voluntary donations from users who believe in the mission. We will never monetize through data collection, advertising, or selling user information. PLocker will remain free, private, and secure—today, tomorrow, and always.
